The original Active Comfort System (ACS) seat was discontinued in spring of 2017. This info is left here for reference. The Extrasport Xtra Comfort seat (EXC) was replaced by original ACS and discontinued circa 2010. Both the original ACS Seat and the EXC seat are sold out and no more will be made. This page is left here for reference.
Both the original ACS Seat and the EXC seat have been replaced with the ACS 2.0 Seat. It is assumed that most kayaks outfitted with these older seats can be retrofit with the ACS 2.0 Seat Wide or the ACS 2.0 Seat Narrow. See also the OT Seat Assembly that is common on some Dirigo kayak models. Use this link to see more ACS related parts.
If you have broken the EXC Seat Back Structure or the ACS Seat Back Structure replace with the generic Tall Back Backband. (Sea kayaks can be outfitted with a generic back band.) If your EXC seat was outfitted with a rope and knob adjustment system replace with the ACS-EXC Seat Strap Kit. If you have broken the strut it can be replaced as part of the Frame. If the rubber seat back cushion needs replacement use self-adhesive foam, if the seat bottom cushion needs replacement use the Foam Touring Seat or try regular foam. See both foam options at this link: Self-Adhesive and Regular Close Cell Foam. Contact us about cutting and shaping as needed.

The ASC Seat Kit was best used as a Replacement Seat Part for Old Town and Necky kayaks that were outfitted with the ACS Seat (Active Comfort Seat shown to the right) or ExtraSport Xtra Comfort Seat (EXC Seat shown to the left). Both the ACS and EXC seats have the same underlying frame. The only differences are in the seat back structure (see below), pad color-style and straps. ACS seats are common in some Old Town and Necky kayaks circa 2010 to 2015. EXC seats are common in some Old Town and Necky kayaks circa 2005 to 2009.
Manufacture’s Statement: ACS (Active Comfort System) seat kits can only be used to replace the Extrasport Xtra Comfort seat. Old style Extrasport Xtra Comfort seats with ratchets (or turn knobs) will require more retrofitting. Designed for all day comfort the ACS seat features a visible, intuitive adjustment system, multi-laminate construction for optimal support and softness, an enhanced seating surface for superior air-flow and drainage and lateral stabilizers which lock the seat in place for one-with-the-boat-feeling. The four-way adjustable seat tailors individual backrest height, thigh support, lumbar support and backrest angle to provide a truly customized ride.
The ACS seat was too large for skinny sea kayaks. It is reported that the ACS will fit the Necky Rip, Zoar and Zoar Sport kayaks.
ACS Seat Overall Dimensions: 23 inches front to back. 22 inches from side to side. Maximum over all height is 14.5 inches, seat back fully elevated, with seat on a flat surface.
The ACS-EXC Seat Posts have pairs of screw holes 3 inches on center. (The 4 total seat post screws are used to secure the seat to the cockpit coaming, 2 screws each side.) The distance from side to side across the seat from the center of the right seat posts screws to the left screws is approximately 21.5 inches with some considerable wiggle room inboard and outboard. Seat posts are adjustable in height, 7 to 9.5 measured from a flat surface area that the seat is placed on.
The seat bottom frame is 22 inches at the widest 19 inches front to back, including the seat back base that projects 3 inches behind the seat pad. The seat pad overhangs the frame on the front edge. The seat bottom pad is 21 inches wide, 20 inches front to back. The seat back pad is 15.75 x 9.5 inches. Instructions and mounting hardware is included.
It was assumed that the ACS-EXC seat fit kayaks approximately 24 to 27 inches wide. A center bar on the floor of your kayak may prevent use of this seat.
