Dagger Integral Rudder Release Kit

Use the Dagger Integral Rudder Release Kit to replace the control cable that locks and unlocks the integral rudder, found on Dagger kayaks; Sitka, Latitude, Atlantis and Baja. Kit includes: one stainless steel cable, one crimp, shrink tube and 6 inches of plastic tubing to replace the original handle.

The original handle (shown left) can be reused if you feel so inclined, but you will have to devise a way to fasten the cable to the original handle.

The eyelet on this cable connects to the Shoulder Screw (shown above to right as the center cable cable screw).

The original handle, or the new loop of tubing that you will use to replace the original handle, is to be parked in a Nylon J-Hook, secured with a screw (shown above left).

Instructions are NOT included with this kit. Read this: The tube will need to be trimmed to 6 inches or less and fashioned into a tear drop loop no longer than 2 to 2.5 inches (shown right). Slip the shrink tube and crimp onto cable. Insert cable through tube. Make loop as shown. Double Check Final Length to get it right! squeeze crimp with vise grips or a cable tool. Cut off waste end of cable with heavy duty wire cutters or a cable tool. Slip shrink tube over crimp. Heat gently with hot air gun or cigarette lighter.

It is strongly recommend to replace the Bungee Cord to prevent loss of the discontinued cover plate and to prevent loss or damage of the clockwork parts under it. See also Rivets and Cable Clamps to secure bungee.
